Water Safety and Swimming Skills

We offer tailored lessons that are customised to each individual’s requirements, the objective being to help them build self-confidence, become physically active, improve self-esteem and learn the life-saving skill of swimming.

We use visual aids and repetitive routines to provide a positive experience and emphasise strengths and unique attributes of each swimmer. We believe every person is unique and therefore each swimming lesson is delivered in accordance with the swimmers preferences and abilities in mind.

Our team has years of experience in the field of learning to swim with special needs, such as:

  • Epilepsy
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Down’s Syndrome
  • Hearing Impairment
  • Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Talipes (club foot)
  • Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle-bone disease)

We also  work extremely hard to be inclusive, and meet every individual’s requirements.

If you would like to know more or have a particular concern, please contact us to discuss how we can help meet your needs.

Talking to your health professional

Even though all members of our team have access to medical groups and are well equipped to deal with special needs children, we do not presume to be medical experts.

We therefore ask parents to consult with their doctor/surgeon prior to commencing swimming and bring along a written letter which states swimming will be beneficial for the child. This is for our children’s safety and in our world, safety always comes first.
